MY MUSE /MIXED MEDIA ART

My brother took this picture, and his innocence melts my heart. I used the “ Tim Holtz Lost and Found” on both projects.

My nephew at 5 months old. I added the letter of his name to each picture. He is so cute!

I am inspired by my nephew, who I love and adore with all my heart. He lost his mommy, the day he was born, and my brother is a single dad raising him. It was a very hard loss for my family. She was very special, and would be extremely proud of her son and my brother. I admire my brother’s patience, he is a great father. My nephew is very bright he’s  two years old and speaks like he's 10 lol, my brother has been reading to him since he was in his mommy’s tummy. I love them both and I hope this art work that I  made reminds my brother that he has a little boy, who brings joy and love to all of our lives, and who inspire us every day.  I miss my sister-in-law so much! I know she would want us to move forward and raise her little boy to be what he is today a happy and healthy beautiful boy.

Mixed Media Art

I used allot of blue since it's my daughters favorite color. Excuse my pink walls which is the color of my room.

I love this picture of my son because he reminds me allot of myself I am a day dreamer too.
Both my kids add to my art inspiration. I have created this mixed media art using various forms of media. On my daughters I went a little nuts but I like the end result. I used a black and white picture I had and painted over it to bring out the picture more. My son’s I used 12x12 black chipboard, “Tim Holtz” paper and some metal embellishments I had.

MY PARENTS

 Tim Holt Lost and Found

My mom was wearing a huipil which is traditional in Merida Yucatan, where both her and my dad were born. My dad is wearing the traditional guayabera. The picture was quite damaged and blurry, and it was hard to see the beautiful  embroidery on her dress. I took flowers that I punched out and placed it all around and used stickles. On my dad's guayabera I took some paint and followed the embroidered design. I also made my handmade stick pins and placed two around the flowers.

Here I painted the canvas cut out the paper and placed pic behind it. I did use stickles around the paper, added some flowers a key and vintage lace.
A picture of my parents. I am 35 now and lost my dad when I was 15 and I cherish these pictures. The loss of my father was really hard on me growing up, I needed him so much and I wanted to make something special to pass down to my kids. Although they never had a chance to meet him, he was an extremely important part of my life, and will always live in my heart. I used the “Tim Holt Lost and Found paper line” and I also used “Bella Bella” by My Mind’s Eye.

Fabric Frame/ Canvas Frame

This is a picture I shot of my daughter. I printed on printable fabric paper, and took heat bond, and ironed onto vintage fabric I also stitched around the picture, I then took spray adhesive and glued it on a 12x12 frame. I put a rub on with the word DREAM. I love taking pictures and finding different ways to display them. I hope my daughter dreams all come true, and cherishes this forever.

This is a close up of the stitching.

I used the same method in these the only difference is this was a 16x20 canvas I wrapped in fabric. I love this pic of my daughter and nephew.
This is a close up of the stitching.

Altered thrift store find

I found this wood box at a thrift store, and just had to alter it! I used “Lost and Found Madison Avenue” by My Mind’s Eye to all nine front boxes, and used “French Country Stack” by DCWV to cover outside of box. I also took a dress form stamp and stamped on side of the box. I used beads and flowers as knob, also used gold foil around the edges. Love the way it turned out!!!

 Street Lace DCWV

Mariposa Paper Line, also incorporated my handmade paper flowers throughout this mini.

I made these mini albums using paper bags and scrapbook paper. The paper pads I used are “Mariposa Paper Line”, “Street Lace” both by DCWV.

Dress Form/ Picture Frame

I love how these jewelry holder dress forms, and picture frames turned out! I didn’t want to over embellish them. I kept it simple especially with the black and pink, I thought the paper itself was beautiful enough. The paper I used for the black and pink is “Street Lace” by DCWV and the light pink is from “The French Country Stack” also by DCWV. The lace around light pink is vintage lace and I picked up at an estate sale.
